Leap Day happens about every four years to make sure our calendar matches the time it takes for the Earth to go around the Sun. It adds an extra day to February, called Leap Day. This helps our calendar stay accurate over time.
Let’s talk about how Leap Day in 2020 and 2024 are alike and different:
Similarities:
Both 2020 and 2024 have an extra day in February, making the year 366 days long instead of 365.
People around the world follow Leap Day traditions like proposing marriage or celebrating birthdays.
Leap Day is important in many cultures and is celebrated differently.
Differences:
In 2020, Leap Day was on a Saturday, while in 2024, it will be on a Thursday.
The world was dealing with COVID-19 in 2020, but not in 2024.
Things have changed socially, politically, and economically between 2020 and 2024.
Also:
The next Leap Day after 2024 will be in 2028.
These differences show how Leap Day is both consistent and changes over the years.

If anything happens on leap day, technically it didn’t .
Interesting. If an event occurs on leap day, technically it still happens, but it occurs only once every four years. Leap day, February 29th, is added to the calendar to keep it synchronized with the Earth’s orbit around the sun, which takes approximately 365.25 days. So, while it’s a unique occurrence, it’s still a part of our calendar system.
