“Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.”
1 John 4 : 11-12
Love is like the glue that holds us all together. It’s powerful, crossing boundaries and connecting people from different backgrounds and times. In 1 John 4:11-12, we learn about God’s love and how it teaches us to love others.
The passage starts by reminding us of how much God loves us. It’s like saying, “Hey, God loves us a whole lot!” This love is like what we read in John 3:16, where God sent His Son to save us. It’s a huge, never-ending love that sets the example for us to love others.
Then, it tells us we should love each other too. It’s not a rule but more like saying, “Because God loves us, let’s love each other too.” It’s about realizing how love changes lives, both ours and those around us.
The next part is interesting. It says, “We can’t see God, but when we love others, it’s like God is with us, and His love becomes perfect in us.” Even though we can’t see God, His love shines through us when we love others. It’s not about being perfect but about choosing to love, just like God loves us.
This idea of love reminds us of what Jesus said about being perfect in love. It’s not about never making mistakes but about loving without limits.
In the Bible, love is shown as the most important thing. Love is like the foundation of faith and hope.
Beyond the Bible, C.S. Lewis talks about love in his book “The Four Loves.” He says love is more than just a feeling; it’s a choice we make, even when it’s hard.
In a world where there’s a lot of fighting and arguing, loving each other is super important. It’s about coming together and remembering that we’re all connected. When we love each other, we show God’s love and make the world a better place.
So, let’s remember the message of 1 John 4:11-12. Let’s love each other, knowing that when we do, we’re reflecting the love that God has for us.
