What is your favorite form of physical exercise?
My favourite exercise is mindful movement, where I focus on each step and breath. It helps me connect with my body and feel calm, turning exercise into a relaxing and uplifting experience.
Beyond the Sweat: My Journey to Finding Harmony in Exercise
In my earlier blog post on exercise, I focused on its role in enhancing both physical and mental well-being. Back then, I viewed exercise as a structured path to balance, grounding myself through a mindful routine.
Revisiting the topic now, I’ve found deeper dimensions in movement—connecting with emotions, cultivating mindfulness, embracing playfulness, and building community.
Here’s how exercise has evolved into a journey of self-discovery beyond the physical.
Introduction
Exercise used to feel like a chore, something to push through for fitness alone. But over time, I realized it could be a path to joy, healing, and harmony, connecting my mind, body, and spirit.
Embodied Movement

For years, I zoned out during workouts, focused only on completing them. Now, I try to tune into each movement, breath, and muscle, transforming exercise into a journey of self-awareness. I encourage you to try this next time you move—connect with each step and stretch.
Exercise as Emotional Release
Exercise has become a tool for emotional alchemy, transforming stress into lightness. Whether dancing freely or going for a brisk walk, movement helps release what no longer serves us. If you feel overwhelmed, try moving in whatever way feels right—it’s a powerful outlet for emotions.
The Spiritual Side of Movement
Exercise is no longer purely physical; it’s also a spiritual ritual. Practices like yoga have taught me to approach movement as a sacred experience, a way to ground myself in gratitude and peace. I invite you to try this—approach your next workout with mindfulness and see if it brings a deeper sense of connection.
Rediscovering Playfulness
Over time, I’d forgotten the joy of playful movement. By rediscovering activities I loved as a child, I’ve learned that exercise doesn’t always have to be serious. Now, I dance, bike, or simply move for the fun of it. Find movement that makes you smile—exercise becomes far more enjoyable this way.
Community Through Movement

One of the most rewarding discoveries has been the power of shared exercise. Moving with others—whether in a yoga class or on a hike—has created unique bonds and memories. If you haven’t tried exercising with others, I encourage you to join a class or find a workout buddy; it adds a new joy to movement.
Conclusion: Redefining Exercise
Exercise is no longer just a task for me; it’s a holistic practice that nurtures my body, mind, and soul. I hope you’ll redefine exercise for yourself, seeing it as a joyful, healing, and connecting experience. When exercise nourishes the soul, it becomes a powerful force for harmony in life.

As you know I like my Tai Chi at home that I have done for years, but had to get back into after months not doing. I know how important Tai Chi is for me and at least, I need to do this, along with my walking that I have never failed on.
But I need to do some other forms of movement too that I struggle to get back into which are strengthening and stretching. Time will tell if I do.
But this energetic month I was feeling, that’s gone now. But I didn’t crash. So all good.

Thank you for this inspiring post. I use ashtanga vinyasa, body building and sensual movement for my choice of play. I love these types of movements because they give you opportunities to be present and in-tune with your most authentic self.
