Is It Still a Win If the Risk Doesn’t Go as Planned?

When is the last time you took a risk? How did it work out?

Last week, I took a creative risk by venturing into videography with a short motivational piece. Though the video was later withdrawn, the heartfelt response from a viewer made the leap worthwhile and inspired future possibilities.

Prompt: When is the last time you took a risk? How did it work out?

Risk often arrives uninvited. It doesn’t always knock—it nudges. And just last week, I felt that nudge pull me in an unfamiliar direction.

Rise&Inspire has always been about motivating through the written word. But I started wondering—could inspiration be shown, not just written? That question led me to explore a completely new path: creating a short-form video series titled Inspire Frames. The concept was exciting, yet unfamiliar—merging visual storytelling with motivational insights.

The Leap
With no background in videography or editing, I dove in. I created a short 60-second video: a lone candle flickering against the wind, paired with a reflection on perseverance. It wasn’t polished. It wasn’t perfect. But it was honest.

For a brief moment, I shared it. The video didn’t go live on Rise&Inspire officially—it was more of a soft release through my extended network. I wasn’t sure what to expect. But then, something unexpected happened. A viewer messaged me saying, “The imagery spoke to my soul before the words did.”

That moment struck deeper than I anticipated. It reminded me that sometimes our smallest experiments resonate the loudest.

The Outcome
Though the video has since been withdrawn—paused, not abandoned—the experience itself was the reward. It opened up a new creative channel, even if just briefly. The risk didn’t lead to a viral success or a new content pillar. But it led me to feel, to grow, and to connect with a stranger on an emotional level. And isn’t that what Rise&Inspire is truly about?

The Reflection
So, how did it work out? Not in a conventional sense. The video didn’t become part of the blog—at least not yet. But the act of creating it, sharing it, and receiving an unexpected spark of connection was enough to validate the leap.

Risks don’t always lead to a final product. Sometimes they lead to clarity, insight, or renewed direction.

Now I ask you—when was the last time you took a risk? And what did it awaken in you?
