If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?
If I had to change my name, I would choose Velmira—a name I created to reflect purpose, elevation, and the journey of becoming who I’m meant to be.
If I Had to Change My Name: I Would Become Velmira
What would you name yourself if you had to start anew? Discover why I chose “Velmira”—a name born of purpose, poetry, and personal growth—in this reflective Rise&Inspire blog post.
There are questions we answer with facts.
And there are questions we answer with fire.
Today’s writing prompt asked:
“If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?”
Simple. Harmless. Almost playful.
But underneath its surface hides something seismic:
What do you call yourself when no one else is watching?
Who are you when stripped of roles, routines, and records?
My Answer: Velmira
Not borrowed.
Not trending.
Not inherited.
Just born.
Here. Now.
Velmira is not a name — it’s a decision.
It’s a breath drawn deeply before a new chapter. It carries no past. No maps. Only momentum.
The name of someone who walks forward even in fog.
Why Velmira?
Because I wanted a name that doesn’t just sound poetic —
I wanted a name that moves.
• “Vel” for velocity, vision, vitality.
• “Mira” for miracles, mirrors, and meaning.
Velmira is the name of someone who doesn’t run from storms.
She reads their patterns, gathers their wind, and rises.
It’s not about reinvention.
It’s about revelation.
What the Prompt Really Invites
This prompt isn’t about bureaucracy.
It’s about becoming.
To change your name is to name your change.
To speak into existence who you are when unshackled from history.
And in that silence, in that clarity, one word stood tall: Velmira.
Still Me. Still Rise&Inspire
I founded Rise&Inspire to spark motion — the kind that begins in the soul and spills out into the world.
Our motto: Motivation and positivity.
Our tagline: “Strive to elevate in life.”
And I would never leave that mission behind.
But with the name Velmira, I embrace its full weight.
Because Velmira doesn’t just write about rising.
She lives it. She embodies it.
To You, the Reader Who Also Carries a Secret Name
What would you be called if you named yourself with no limits?
Let it be wild.
Let it be luminous.
Let it be yours.
You are not confined by what you’ve been called.
You are free to declare who you’re becoming.
So… what is your Velmira?

my real name would be Shivakin, related by essence to Shiva.
He called me into existence from Himself to be one of his “hands” to act in this play of maya. He is my inner Self who is also transcendental & formless, as well as taking on form when needed, often within certain limitations, as if human.
i am also new & ignorant in certain ways, so the body can challenge from time to time with issues of mortality, like pain & emotional suffering. yet knowing that i am, in essence, Shiva’s kin helps me to more quickly adapt to the presented challenge.
on the surface, i am much like anyone else, but in my inner life i know that i am Shiva’s kin, & this bolsters me most of all in this physical walk on planet earth.

Thank you for sharing your reflection, Shivakin.
Your choice of name speaks with both conviction and reverence — rooted in a profound understanding of identity that transcends the surface. The connection you’ve drawn between yourself and Shiva is both personal and expansive, bridging the human experience with the divine essence.
I deeply appreciate the way you articulated the tension between physical limitation and spiritual awareness — a balance many strive to understand. Your words reflect not only a strong inner foundation but also a thoughtful awareness of the journey we each walk in this world.
Shivakin is a name that carries intention, strength, and clarity of purpose. Thank you for adding such meaningful depth to this conversation.

What a powerful reminder that names can carry purpose. Just like how God renamed Abram to Abraham and Saul to Paul, there’s sacred weight in becoming who we’re meant to be. 🙏💫
