Strive to Elevate in Life.
Every morning, as I sip my tea and watch the sun climb the sky, I am moved by the vastness of the world—and the even greater expanse of our dreams. Today’s WordPress prompt, “What countries do you want to visit?” seems, at first, to ask for a simple list. France for the romance, Japan for the cherry blossoms, Peru for the ancient mysteries. But as I pondered, I realised the question is far deeper. It isn’t just about places on a map. It’s about the journeys that call to our souls.

Beyond Borders: Travelling as Transformation
Travel, for me, is less about ticking off destinations and more about transformation. Each country I dream of visiting represents a quality I wish to cultivate, a story I wish to live, or a lesson I long to learn.
1. Japan: The Art of Mindful Living
Japan beckons with its cherry blossoms, tranquil temples, and the philosophy of ikigai—a reason for being. I imagine strolling through Kyoto’s gardens, learning the art of presence, and embracing simplicity. To visit Japan, for me, is to strive for balance and mindfulness in my own life.
2. Iceland: The Courage to Embrace the Unknown
Iceland’s wild landscapes—volcanoes, glaciers, and northern lights—remind me of the beauty in embracing uncertainty. Just as the land is shaped by fire and ice, our lives are forged in moments of challenge and wonder. Iceland is my symbol for courage: to step into the unknown, to trust the journey.
3. India: Deepening My Connection to Home
Though I live in South India, I am continually amazed by the diversity and depth of my own country. India’s vibrant chaos and spiritual richness invite me to explore beyond the familiar, to journey north and east, to ancient cities and sacred rivers. For me, travelling within India is about deepening my connection to my roots, discovering new facets of resilience, and honouring the tapestry of traditions that shape who I am.
4. New Zealand: The Pursuit of Adventure
New Zealand’s rolling hills and epic landscapes are the backdrop for adventure. Whether it’s hiking the Milford Track or simply breathing in the fresh air, New Zealand inspires me to seek new experiences, to say “yes” more often, and to view life as the ultimate adventure.
5. Greece: The Celebration of Joy
Greece, with its sun-drenched islands and rich mythology, is a place of celebration. It reminds me to find joy in simple pleasures—good food, laughter, and connection. To visit Greece is to remember that life is meant to be savoured.
The Real Destination: Elevation
As the founder of Rise&Inspire, my motto is “Motivation and positivity.” But these aren’t just words; they are destinations I strive for daily. The countries I dream of visiting are more than places—they are metaphors for the qualities I wish to nurture: mindfulness, courage, resilience, adventure, and joy.
So, when asked, “What countries do you want to visit?” my answer is this:
I want to visit every country that helps me become the best version of myself.
I want to journey to the places—real and metaphorical—that inspire me to rise, to strive, and to elevate.
Your Turn: Where Would You Go to Grow?
Dear readers, I invite you to reflect: What countries call to your soul, and what do they represent for you? Where would you go, not just to see the world, but to see yourself in a new light?

A very interesting and different take of the prompt, that I would not have thought of in that way.
I don’t think of the places I would like to see outside of the UK because I know it wouldn’t happen. But China and Japanese for their culture and mindfulness.
Miami for the experience and just to say I have been there with only something I have ever seen on tv
And I agree with your take on visiting Iceland.
Thank you for sharing your reflections, and I truly appreciate your thoughtful engagement with the post.
It’s interesting to hear your perspective on destinations like China and Japan—both rich in culture, philosophy, and a sense of mindful living. Your mention of Miami captures something important too: the value of experiencing places that have long lived in our imagination, even if only through television or stories. Sometimes, simply naming those places brings us closer to the experiences they represent.
I completely understand your sentiment about travel outside the UK feeling unlikely. But as you noted, reflecting on what these places symbolize can still be meaningful. Travel is not always about physical movement—it can also be about expanding our inner world and understanding ourselves better through the dreams we hold.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your perspective. I’m glad the post resonated with you, especially the part about Iceland. Wishing you continued inspiration—wherever your journey leads.
You’re welcome and thank you for the perspective on how I can look at it due to not likely to ever experience travelling outside of the UK.
