Why Did Science Capture My Imagination in School?

What was your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject in school was Science because it sparked my curiosity, taught me to question everything, and shaped how I see and understand the world today.

Not every favourite subject fades with time. Some become the language through which we interpret the world. For me, that subject was Science — not because it gave me answers, but because it taught me to love the search for them.

What Was Your Favorite Subject in School?

Rediscovering Science as a Lifelong Source of Wonder

Some questions may seem simple, yet they carry layers of memory and meaning. “What was your favorite subject in school?” is one such invitation to look inward — to revisit the classrooms that shaped our curiosity and identity. For me, the answer has remained constant through the years: Science.

In my earlier reflections — Why Science Was My Favorite Subject and Science: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Natural World — I explored how science awakened my sense of wonder and taught me to see the universe not as a collection of facts, but as a living story of discovery. Yet today, I wish to go deeper — to uncover why science continues to resonate with me long after the final school bell faded into memory.

Beyond the Classroom: Science as a Way of Seeing

Science was never merely a subject; it was a mindset — an invitation to question, observe, and seek truth with humility. While others memorised formulas, I found fascination in the patterns connecting them. Whether it was the elegance of Newton’s laws or the intricate dance of cells under a microscope, every lesson felt like decoding a piece of life’s grand design.

But what I truly loved was how science nurtured curiosity without demanding certainty. It accepted doubt as part of progress, reminding me that not knowing was never failure — it was the beginning of understanding.

The Continuum of Curiosity

That curiosity has become the foundation of my work as a writer and founder of Rise&Inspire, where I strive to blend knowledge with meaning. The same spirit that made me ask “why?” in a school laboratory now drives me to explore “how?” and “what next?” through my writing.

Science taught me that inspiration is not found in final answers, but in the courage to keep exploring — a truth that fuels every post I create.

A Reflection That Never Ends

Revisiting this question year after year reveals how our learning evolves. What began as a fascination with experiments and discoveries has matured into reverence for the very process of inquiry. Science continues to remind me that the world is not static — it is a story still being written, and we are all participants in its unfolding chapters.

Favourite subject: Science.

Enduring lesson: Stay curious, keep exploring, never stop asking.
