What was your favorite subject in school?
My favourite subject in school was science. From early experiments to learning about the mysteries of nature, science captured my curiosity and taught me how to think critically and explore the world with wonder. Even today, it continues to shape my perspective and fuels my lifelong passion for learning.
1. Introduction
When I saw the question “What was your favourite subject in school?” pop up again today, brought a smile to my face. The prompt brought back memories of the blog post I wrote about this very topic a year ago when I shared my love for science. Revisiting this question feels like an invitation to dive deeper into my memories and explore why, even now, science holds such a special place in my heart.
2. Early Fascination with Science
My love affair with science began in a small classroom filled with posters of planets, cells, and the life cycle of a butterfly. I still remember the excitement I felt during my first science experiment. Watching colours change in a simple chemical reaction or observing a plant grow from a tiny seed made the invisible forces of nature feel both magical and within reach.
Science was more than facts and formulas; it felt like an adventure. Each lesson was a journey into the unknown, guided by teachers who brought concepts to life with stories, demonstrations, and endless patience for my questions. I can still hear my biology teacher’s voice(Agathamma teacher) explaining how cells divide or my physics teacher showing us how magnets repel and attract. Those early moments in science class planted seeds of curiosity that would continue to grow.
3. The Everlasting Appeal of Science
As I grew older, my fascination with science deepened, and it went from being a mere school subject to something that fundamentally shaped my approach to life. Science taught me more than facts; it taught me how to think, how to ask questions, and how to explore the unknown without fear.
Understanding concepts like the scientific method and critical thinking allowed me to approach life with a clearer, more inquisitive mind. Science gave me a way to make sense of the world, showing me that everything is interconnected and that every answer leads to a new question. It was empowering to know that curiosity wasn’t merely encouraged but essential in science, and that there was no end to what we could learn.
4. How Science Continues to Impact Me Today
Years after those school days, my love for science has only grown. I may not be in a classroom anymore, but science is still very much a part of my life. I see it in the books I choose, the documentaries I enjoy, and even in small everyday decisions, like understanding nutrition labels or appreciating the environmental impact of my choices.
Whether I’m watching a documentary on space exploration or reading about breakthroughs in neuroscience, I find myself drawn to how science continually evolves, pushing the boundaries of what we know. Science has made me curious about the latest advancements in technology and medicine, and it’s given me a deep respect for the natural world. This ongoing relationship with science enriches my life, keeping me engaged, informed, and in awe of the universe.
5. Reflecting on Learning as an Adult
It’s fascinating to think about how an interest sparked in a school classroom has evolved into something so deeply personal. Science didn’t just end when I finished school; it adapted, expanded, and became a part of who I am. Now, when I think about how much science has shaped my perspectives and fueled my lifelong curiosity, I feel grateful for those early lessons and the teachers who sparked that initial fascination.
Reflecting on this journey reminds me that our favourite subjects are rarely “just” subjects. They can become passions, hobbies, and even parts of our identity that continue to shape us well into adulthood. Revisiting this question now has been a wonderful opportunity to remember that our first loves—in learning, in curiosity—are worth holding on to.
6. Closing Thoughts
So, to this day, if someone were to ask me about my favourite subject in school, the answer would still be science. Not because it was easy or because it was just a favourite class, but because it opened my mind in ways that still impact me. Science taught me that life is full of mysteries to be explored and that there’s always something new to learn if we’re willing to look.
7. Call to Action
Now, I’d love to hear from you. What was your favourite subject in school, and does it still influence you today? Whether it’s literature, art, history, or math, I believe those early loves are woven into who we are now. Let’s share those memories and perhaps even reconnect with what first sparked our passion for learning.

Science is an interesting subject and its beginning is wonderful. When we were studying human organs and everything, God created the earth, humans, and science. Thank you for participating, my dear brother, Johnbritto.
