Who Would You Like to Talk To Soon? — A Conversation Beyond the Horizon

Who would you like to talk to soon?

I would like to talk to my future self—the one who’s lived the outcomes of today’s choices, weathered life’s storms, and discovered what truly mattered.

Explore an imaginative and deeply reflective answer to the WordPress prompt “Who would you like to talk to soon?” through a visionary narrative that transcends time, reality, and the boundaries of the blogosphere.

A Rise & Inspire Original Post

By Johnbritto Kurusumuthu, Founder & Editor-in-Chief

“Strive to elevate in life.”

“Motivation and positivity” is our motto, and today, we take that ethos to an entirely new realm—through the art of asking not just who, but why we long to speak to certain souls.

Who Would I Like to Talk to Soon?

A curious question. A simple one on the surface. Yet, like a pebble dropped into still water, its ripples reach far, brushing against longing, love, wisdom, memory, and even hope.

So here’s my answer:

Not a celebrity, not a long-lost friend, not even someone who owes me answers.

I want to talk to someone who hasn’t yet been born.

Yes, I want to speak to a future version of myself. The Johnbritto ten years from now. The one who’s seen the outcomes of today’s decisions. The one who’s weathered new storms, reached different peaks, and perhaps even felt the sting of unexpected valleys.

👣 The Conversation That Transcends Time

If I could pull up a chair across from that future self, here’s how the dialogue might unfold:

Me (2025): “Did we make the right choices?”

Future Me (2035): “Every choice was a teacher. Even the ones you feared.”

Me: “Is Rise&Inspire still alive?”

Future Me: “It is. But more than alive—it’s a light. It no longer just shares; it shapes.”

Me: “What mattered most?”

Future Me: “Consistency. Not in being perfect, but in being purposeful.”

Me: “Did we inspire anyone?”

Future Me: smiles “More than you can count. But the most important person you inspired was yourself—when you refused to stop.”

🔍 Why Talk to the Future?

Because the future is our mirror—cleaner, bolder, wiser.

Most people seek conversations with the past: closure, healing, nostalgia.

But the future? The future holds potential, not pain.

It holds reasons, not regrets.

To talk to the future is to declare:

“I am not finished yet.”

🌟 The Person Beyond the Timeline

If we truly believe in growth—if Rise&Inspire’s tagline “Strive to elevate in life” means anything—then the person we must long to converse with is the one we are becoming.

And in that spiritual sense, perhaps the person I want to talk to isn’t just me.

Maybe it’s also:

The young writer today, wondering if their words will ever matter.

The weary leader seeking purpose again.

The believer whose faith is flickering but not gone.

The dreamer who hasn’t yet dared.

Maybe I long to talk to them all.

Because in truth, these are all pieces of us.

🔥 From Thought to Action

How can you talk to your future self today?

Write a letter to the “You of 2035”—seal it.

Start the habit you hope to be praised for ten years from now.

Build the legacy you’d want to report back on.

This is not fantasy. It’s a quiet revolution of the spirit.

✉️ Call to My Readers

Dear Rise&Inspire family,

Ask yourself not just who you want to talk to—but why.

Do you seek affirmation?

Do you crave healing?

Do you long for guidance?

The conversation you most need might not come from outside—but from the version of yourself that your present effort is slowly crafting.

And so I ask you…

Who is the person you are becoming?

What would they tell you right now?

Let that be your compass.

🧭 A Reflective Action Step

Today’s challenge:

Write a 5-line journal entry beginning with:

“Ten years from now, I hope you remember…”

Let it surprise you. Let it stretch you.

And maybe—just maybe—that version of you will whisper back one day:

“You were listening before I even spoke.”

🌌 Final Thought

In a world racing for answers, slow down to ask a question that opens up time itself.

Because the most powerful conversations?

They happen when you learn to listen to the echoes of your future.
