What Do Your Top Three Pet Peeves Reveal About You This Year?

My top three pet peeves are:

1. People who interrupt mid-sentence.

2. Last-minute plan changes.

3. Loud background noise when I’m trying to work.

Name your top three pet peeves.

Before we even name our pet peeves, they quietly shape how we move through life. They tell us what we value, what we tolerate, and what we no longer accept. Revisiting this prompt in 2025 uncovered far more than three annoyances—it revealed how much I’ve changed without realising it.

Have My Pet Peeves Changed Again This Year? (2025 Reflection)

Every November, WordPress brings back familiar prompts — and sometimes, they feel like déjà vu. Today’s prompt, “Name your top three pet peeves,” is one I’ve actually written about twice before. In 2023, I explored the everyday irritations that tested my patience. In 2024, I reflected on how life changes also shift the things that annoy us.

If you’re curious, you can revisit those posts here:

🔹 2024: How My Pet Peeves Have Changed in a Year

This year, however, I find myself looking at the prompt differently. Instead of simply listing annoyances, I’m asking a deeper question: What do pet peeves reveal about who I am becoming?

My Top Three Pet Peeves in 2025 — And What They Reveal

1. People Who Interrupt Mid-Sentence

This one has grown stronger over the years. Maybe it’s because I value mindful communication more than ever. When someone cuts me off, it’s not just the interruption, it feels like they’ve derailed my thoughts without permission.

What it reveals: I’ve come to value presence and attentive listening deeply.

2. Last-Minute Plan Changes

I used to be spontaneous. Now, with a busy schedule and structured routines, sudden plan changes completely throw off my rhythm.

What it reveals: I’m prioritising stability and honouring my boundaries.

3. Loud Background Noise During Quiet Work

Blaring TVs, random music, and unnecessary honks — all of them make me lose focus instantly. Perhaps it’s an occupational hazard of writing regularly.

What it reveals: Silence has become a space for creativity, reflection, and mental clarity.

Why I Write This Prompt Every Year

At first, I wondered if it was even worth revisiting the same topic. But looking back at my posts from 20232024, and now 2025, I realise something important:

✔️ Pet peeves aren’t just annoyances —

they’re small mirrors reflecting how we grow, what we value, and what we protect within ourselves.

Repeating this prompt each year isn’t redundant.

It’s actually a unique way of tracking my emotional evolution.

Do they match mine? Have yours changed too?

If you’ve never revisited a prompt before, today might be a wonderful time to explore how your irritations — and your inner landscape — shift over time.

How Have My Pet Peeves Evolved Over the Past Year?

Name your top three pet peeves.

1. Unnecessary Meetings: Meetings without clear agendas feel like a waste of time.
2. Slow Internet: It’s frustrating when technology doesn’t keep up with the pace of work.
3. Overuse of Buzzwords: Phrases like “circle back” or “low-hanging fruit” often feel hollow and repetitive.
From Then to Now

A year ago, I responded to the WordPress prompt, “Name your top three pet peeves.” My list at the time included:

  1. Running Late Stress – the chaotic scramble to beat the clock.
  2. Too Many Notifications – the relentless pinging of devices.
  3. Grammar Goofs – the unavoidable cringe at misplaced apostrophes.

Little did I know that the same prompt would reappear a year later, offering me an opportunity to revisit this topic and reflect on how my irritations—and perhaps even I—have evolved over time.

Looking Back: Last Year’s Pet Peeves

When I first wrote about my pet peeves, they felt universal, relatable, and deeply personal. At that point in life:

  • I often found myself juggling schedules, which made running late a major source of stress.
  • Notifications were a constant distraction, breaking focus and adding unnecessary chaos.
  • Grammar goofs, though minor in the grand scheme of things, struck a chord with my inner perfectionist.

Revisiting that blog post today brings a mix of nostalgia and amusement, offering a chance to reflect on how much has shifted over the past year. While some of these irritations still hold true, others have faded, replaced by new ones that better reflect my current lifestyle and priorities.

This Year’s Top Three Pet Peeves

Fast forward a year, and here’s what makes my list now:

  1. Unnecessary Meetings
With hybrid work becoming the norm, I’ve noticed how easily time gets wasted in meetings that could have been emails. It’s frustrating to sit through discussions with no clear agenda or outcomes.
  2. Slow Internet
My increasing reliance on technology has amplified this annoyance. Whether it’s a buffering video or a dropped connection during an important call, slow internet can derail an otherwise productive day.
  3. Overuse of Buzzwords
“Let’s circle back,” “synergy,” “low-hanging fruit”—does anyone else cringe when these overused phrases dominate conversations? Authenticity feels lost when buzzwords take over, and it’s become one of my latest pet peeves.

What Changed?

The shift in my pet peeves speaks volumes about how life evolves:

  • Running Late Stress has eased. I’ve learned to manage my time better and embrace a more relaxed approach to scheduling.
  • Notifications no longer bother me as much. Setting boundaries and silencing non-urgent alerts have worked wonders.
  • Grammar Goofs—well, they still bug me, but I’ve become more forgiving. After all, we’re all human!

Instead, my new pet peeves are rooted in how I interact with technology and people. This reflects my growing focus on productivity, meaningful communication, and the little frustrations that come with modern life.

Lessons from Reflecting on Pet Peeves

Revisiting this prompt has reminded me of an important lesson: change is inevitable, even in the smallest aspects of life. Our pet peeves act as tiny mirrors, reflecting where we are and what matters most to us at any given time. What irritated us yesterday might not even make us blink today.

By revisiting these irritations, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for how my priorities have shifted. It’s a gentle reminder to be patient—with myself and with others. After all, what bothers us often says more about us than it does about the world around us.

What About You?

Have your pet peeves changed over the years? What irritated you a year ago, and what’s taken its place now? I’d love to hear your reflections—feel free to share them in the comments. Let’s laugh together at life’s quirks and celebrate the growth that comes with it.

Closing Thoughts

A year can bring countless changes, both big and small. Revisiting this prompt was more than just an exercise in identifying irritations—it was a journey of self-awareness and growth. So, WordPress, thank you for asking me this question twice. Who knows what my pet peeves will look like a year from now?

Let me know if you’d like to tweak any part or if you’d like to add a personal anecdote!

What Are the Top Everyday Annoyances That Drive Us All Crazy?

Name your top three pet peeves.

1. Running Late Stress
2. Too Many Notifications
3. Grammar Goofs

My Top Three Everyday Annoyances

Today, I want to chat about those little things in life that bug us a bit. You know, those small annoyances that might not ruin our day but still make us go, “Ugh!” So, let’s pitch into my top three pet peeves – the things that bug me just a tad.

1. Running Late Stress

Ever had that rush of panic when you realize you’ve left things to the last minute? Yep, that’s my first pet peeve – Running Late Stress. Whether it’s a project for work or something personal, waiting until the eleventh hour always leaves me scrambling. We’ve all been there, right?

2. Too Many Notifications

Imagine you’re in the middle of doing something important, and suddenly your phone won’t stop buzzing. An email, a message, a social media alert – it’s like a notification party! That’s my second pet peeve – Too Many Notifications. They can turn a peaceful moment into noisy chaos. Does anyone else feel this?

3. Grammar Goofs

Now, I love a good chat, but when words get all jumbled up, it’s like a tiny irritation. My third pet peeve is Grammar Goofs. I’m not a perfectionist, but mixing up words and making spelling mistakes? It’s like nails on a chalkboard for me.

In the big picture, these annoyances might not seem like a big deal, but they add some spice to our daily routine. Running late, notification overload, and grammar mishaps – they’re the little quirks that make life interesting. After all, who doesn’t need a good eye roll or a sigh now and then?

Here’s to handling life’s little hiccups, finding humour in the annoyances, and keeping things light. Until next time, friends!
