If I didn’t need sleep, I would devote the extra hours to deepening my spiritual life, writing with greater consistency, and learning new skills that usually get pushed aside in a busy day. More than productivity, I would use the time to pursue purpose, quiet reflection, and meaningful growth—because extra hours matter only when they’re spent intentionally.
What if you suddenly gained hours you never had before? Not borrowed time, but brand-new space to grow, create, reflect, and rebuild your life. This question pushes us to examine our deepest priorities and the versions of ourselves we haven’t met yet.
If You Didn’t Need Sleep, What Would You Do With All the Extra Time? — A New Perspective for 2025
We meet this familiar WordPress prompt once again:
“If you didn’t need sleep, what would you do with all the extra time?”
This is the third time it has appeared in my blogging journey, and each time it has met a slightly different version of me. My earlier reflections still live on my blog—each capturing my thoughts from that year:
🔗 2023: The Power of Continuous Wakefulness — A Life Without Sleep
🔗 2024: Redefining Time: A World Without Sleep
And now here we are in 2025—with life, responsibilities, and perspectives shifting gently yet surely. So yes, this repeat prompt returns, but it arrives at a new season of growth.
🌙 A Life Without Sleep: What Would I Really Do?
If I had the luxury of never needing sleep, the “extra time” wouldn’t simply be more hours—it would be more life. And today, my heart leans toward using that life in three meaningful ways:
1. Deepen My Spiritual Life
Instead of filling extra hours with tasks, I would fill them with silence.
More time for Scripture.
More time for meditative prayer.
More time to sit quietly with God, without rushing between the demands of day and night.
In a world that glorifies busyness, uninterrupted spiritual stillness feels like the rarest gift.
2. Serve and Inspire Consistently
I would write more—
not just more posts, but more meaningful ones.
Writing is where my purpose and passion converge. With the gift of endless wakefulness, I could create:
• richer reflections
• deeper motivational stories
• daily inspiration for readers
• better researched pieces
• more wake-up call messages inspired by His Excellency, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan
If time expanded, so could the impact.
3. Learn Without Limits
There are always skills waiting for the “right time”:
a new language, a technical skill, an online course, a book on faith or psychology.
With more hours in the day, learning would become a continuous, joyful part of life—not something squeezed into leftover minutes.
But Here’s the Unexpected Realisation…
Even though I imagine all the beautiful things I would do with extra time, the truth is simpler:
What we do with the time we have defines who we become.
Sleep or no sleep, we can still choose purpose, peace, and passion.
Maybe the real question isn’t “What would you do if you didn’t need sleep?”
but
“How can you make space for what truly matters, even in the limited time you already have?”
Final Thoughts
This is my third reflection on the same prompt, yet it feels entirely new—because each year reshapes my priorities and my understanding of time.
I’m grateful for this gentle prompt to reflect, dream, and re-evaluate what I truly want to invest my energy in.
Maybe that’s the real beauty of WordPress prompts—they don’t just repeat;
they reveal.
