What Are Your Hands Saying? ✋❤️📣

Discover the Power of Everyday Gestures

By Johnbritto Kurusumuthu

Founder, Rise&Inspire

Introduction

What are your hands saying—right now?
In a world saturated with words, our hands often communicate what our voices can’t. Every wave, clasp, and gesture holds silent power—telling stories, expressing emotions, and bridging connections without a single syllable. At Rise&Inspire, we believe that the everyday movements we make are more than habits—they’re reflections of who we are and how we show up for the world. Join us as we uncover the hidden messages behind these simple, powerful expressions.

Every day, we wave, clap, point, or pray with our hands. But have you ever paused to wonder what your hands are truly saying?

In a world filled with noise, gestures often speak louder than words. From the humble “🙏” of gratitude to the energetic “👍” of encouragement, our hands become silent yet powerful storytellers. The language of the hand is universal—it transcends cultures, borders, and languages.

Let’s decode the beauty and significance of these simple yet profound hand gestures.

1. Gratitude and Prayer 🙏

A gesture of humility and grace, folded hands show respect, reverence, and a heart full of thanks. Whether you’re praying to God or thanking someone sincerely, this pose centers you in stillness.

2. Heart Hands ❤️

This symbol of love and connection often replaces a thousand words. Whether it’s for friends, family, or community—this gesture beams affection, support, and shared joy.

3. Victory & Strength ✌️💪

The raised two fingers signify triumph. Coupled with the iconic arm flex, they embody resilience and determination. Even in silence, these gestures roar with strength.

4. Hi, Hello, Stop

The open palm is a bridge and a boundary. Use it to greet, pause, or protect. It’s a sign of presence—of being aware, available, and assertive.

5. Thumbs Up & Down 👍👎

These gestures are among the oldest non-verbal votes. Approval or disapproval—encouragement or critique—your thumb can shift the direction of energy.

6. Applause & Joy 👏

Clapping hands celebrate achievements. In contrast, the raised hands of surprise express spontaneous delight. Both convey emotion unfiltered and pure.

7. Pointing, Receiving, and Calling 👉🤙

Pointing can indicate guidance or even confrontation. The “call me” gesture invites connection. The receiving hand signals openness—a readiness to embrace, help, or accept.

8. Rock On 🤘 & Hug 🤗

Rock on channels confidence and spirit, while a hug wraps love around another person—even virtually. Both embody warmth, freedom, and expression.

9. Handshake 🤝

In a digital world, this gesture remains a symbol of trust, unity, and agreement. Whether in business or friendship, it seals intention and mutual respect.

Why Does This Matter?

Every gesture is an extension of your soul. What your mouth may hesitate to say, your hands often declare boldly. When used with awareness and sincerity, they can uplift others, deepen relationships, and spark joy.

Let’s be more intentional in how we communicate—not just with words, but with our hands and hearts.

Important Bit

Our hands carry more than things—they carry meaning. Be it peace, protest, praise, or presence, every gesture is a chance to rise and inspire.

Conclusion

Your hands speak—even when your lips don’t.
Whether they rise in celebration or extend in empathy, your gestures shape the energy around you. By becoming more intentional with our movements, we can elevate our presence, nurture meaningful relationships, and express the very core of our being. So the next time your hands move—whether to greet, give, or ground yourself—remember: you’re not just acting, you’re inspiring.

CAN A SOFTWARE UPDATE BREAK YOUR PHONE — AND YOUR TRUST?

Can a Software Update Break Your Phone — and Your Trust?

Had a green line appear on your Galaxy S23 screen after a software update? Here’s my real story of paying for a Samsung screen replacement — and why I’m now hesitant to update again. Know your rights and what to ask before you hit “Install.”

🛠 When Updates Break Trust: A Cautionary Tale from My Samsung Experience

By K. John Britto | Rise & Inspire Blog

At Rise & Inspire, we believe in empowering people through shared experiences — even the frustrating ones. Today, I want to share a personal story that many smartphone users might resonate with — a tale where a simple software update disrupted more than just my screen.

🌱 The Promise of Progress — And the Price I Paid

Like many of us who trust tech giants, I chose the Samsung Galaxy S23 for its performance and premium build. On August 7, 2023, I proudly purchased the device for ₹68,900. I took meticulous care of it — no drops, no cracks, not even a scratch.

But in June 2025, shortly after installing a routine software update, a green vertical line appeared on the left side of my screen. Confused and concerned, I visited my local Samsung store in Thiruvananthapuram. The retailer acknowledged that this issue was happening to many users after updates — yet when I visited the official Samsung Service Center, I was asked to pay ₹8,731 for a screen replacement.

Despite no fault of mine, and despite similar issues being fixed for free on older Galaxy models (S21, S22), my S23 was excluded. Why the double standard?

⚠️ Now a New Update Is Here — Should I Risk It?

Fast forward to today: my phone is once again prompting me to install a new software update (see image below). But after what I’ve been through, I find myself asking:

  • Has Samsung addressed the issue that caused the screen malfunction in the first place?
  • Can I trust this update not to damage my display again?
  • And more importantly, if something does go wrong — will Samsung stand by its customers this time?

These aren’t just technical questions. They’re questions of trust.

🧭 To Tech Companies: Honour the People Behind the Products

At Rise & Inspire, we advocate for corporate accountability and customer-first policies. Updates are supposed to improve performance and security — not compromise core hardware and leave customers footing the bill.

I’ve already written to Samsung requesting clarity and fairness. If you’re a Galaxy S23 user, or any smartphone user, think twice before blindly hitting “Install Now.” And if you’ve faced similar issues, don’t suffer in silence. Speak up. Share your story.

💬 Final Thoughts

Technology is powerful — but only when backed by responsibility.
Companies must understand: what truly builds a brand isn’t just innovation — it’s integrity.

Have you faced issues with smartphone updates? Share your experience below or tag @RiseAndInspire in your story. Let’s make our voices count.

What You Need to Know About Artificial Intelligence Through the Eyes of Scripture

By John Britto Kurusumuthu | Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Rise&Inspire

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has likely become part of your everyday life—whether through voice assistants, chatbots, or personalized recommendations. You may marvel at its capabilities, but you’ve probably also wondered:

What does God say about this? Can the Bible help you understand the rise of AI?

While the Bible doesn’t directly mention artificial intelligence, it offers you rich spiritual wisdom on knowledge, creation, ethics, and your role in a tech-driven world. Let’s walk through the Scriptures together and reflect on what they might be telling you about the age of AI.

 1. You Were Made in God’s Image—What Are You Creating?

Genesis 1:26-27

“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…”

As someone created in God’s image, you’ve been given creativity, intelligence, and the power to innovate. When you help design or use AI, you’re reflecting that divine creativity. But remember: God’s creation—you—has a soul. AI doesn’t.

You can simulate intelligence, but only God breathes life.

 2. Are You Living in the Time of Knowledge Overflow?

Daniel 12:4

“…seal the book until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

You’re living in an era where knowledge grows exponentially. Does that feel like a fulfillment of prophecy? Maybe. But be cautious—are you using that knowledge to glorify God or to lean too heavily on machines?

 3. Are You Leaning Too Much on Your Own Understanding?

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Do not lean on your own understanding…”

As you navigate AI tools, it’s tempting to rely on them entirely. But this verse gently reminds you: AI cannot replace divine guidance. Don’t trade faith for code. Let AI be your servant—not your shepherd.

 4. Are You Giving Power to What Has No Life?

Revelation 13:15

“…the image of the beast…was allowed to give breath to the image so that it could speak…”

Could this be pointing toward lifelike machines? You might see talking robots or digital beings and feel a chill. Be mindful not to let anything artificial rule your heart or replace the values you live by. You are called to worship the Creator, not creations.

 5. Are You Remembering That Love Is Greater Than Knowledge?

1 Corinthians 13:2

“…if I have all knowledge…but do not have love, I am nothing.”

You may be impressed by how much AI can do. But AI can’t feel. It can’t forgive. It can’t love. You can. The Bible reminds you: Love is the highest form of intelligence.

 6. Have You Forgotten Who Created It All?

Job 38:4

“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?”

This question from God reminds you to stay humble. No matter how powerful your inventions become, only God holds the universe together. AI may analyze patterns—but God knows your heart.

Key Takeaway

The Bible may not speak directly about artificial intelligence, but it speaks to you, right now, with clarity. As you journey through a world filled with technology, choose to walk in wisdom, faith, and humility.

Let AI assist you—but let God guide you.

🙋‍♀️ FAQs

Q1: Is AI mentioned in the Bible?

Not directly. But the Bible offers principles that help you reflect on AI wisely.

Q2: Is creating or using AI sinful?

Not at all—unless it replaces God in your life or is used in unethical ways.

Q3: Can AI have a soul like you?

No. Only you were made in the image of God, with a soul and divine breath.

Q4: How can you keep faith in an AI-driven world?

By staying grounded in Scripture, upholding moral values, and using technology to serve—not replace—God’s purpose.

Why Did Early Christians Turn East to Pray—and Should We Still Do It Today?

A Sacred Tradition Rooted in Hope

Have you ever wondered why many Christian traditions emphasize facing east during prayer and worship? This ancient practice is far more than a ritualistic direction—it is a profound act of faith, symbolizing the expectation of Christ’s return, a spiritual reconnection to the Garden of Eden, and an orientation toward hope and divine fulfilment.

Let’s explore the deeper meaning behind this enduring tradition.

The East: A Symbol of Christ’s Return

In Christian eschatology—the theological study of the “last things” or end times—there is a powerful belief that Christ will return from the East. This conviction is beautifully captured in the Gospel of Matthew:

“For just as lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

— Matthew 24:27

This verse evokes a vivid image of Christ’s Second Coming: sudden, radiant, and unmistakable—like lightning stretching across the sky. Facing east, therefore, is a gesture of readiness and hope, a sacred posture that acknowledges the promise of His return.

The Garden of Eden: A Longing for Paradise

The symbolism of the east runs even deeper. In Genesis, we read that the Garden of Eden was planted in the east:

“And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east…”

— Genesis 2:8

By turning east in worship, Christians spiritually realign themselves with Paradise, the place where humanity first encountered God. It’s an expression of yearning for divine communion, of seeking to walk again with God in the beauty of holiness.

Architectural Symbolism: Facing the Sacred

This eastward orientation is even reflected in church architecture. Traditionally, many churches are designed so that the congregation faces east during worship. The entrance is placed on the west end, and the altar—the most sacred part of the church—is positioned in the east.

Thus, as worshippers come together, they turn both physically and spiritually toward the rising sun, which has long been a symbol of resurrection, new life, and divine light. The East becomes a direction of spiritual awakening and expectant faith.

✝️ A Spiritual Practice of Expectation

Facing East is more than a geographical detail—it is a devotional act, a quiet but powerful affirmation of Christian hope. Every time believers pray facing the east, they participate in a tradition that stretches across centuries, echoing the longing of countless souls who await the return of the Savior and the restoration of all things.

🌟 Key Takeaway

Facing east in Christian worship is a sacred tradition deeply connected to Scripture, symbolizing the hope of Christ’s return, a spiritual reorientation toward Eden, and the enduring promise of light triumphing over darkness. It reminds believers to live in hopeful anticipation, always looking to the East—for from there, the dawn breaks and the Lord shall come.

In-Depth Clarifications (FAQs)

Q: Is facing east during prayer mandatory in Christianity?

A: No, it is not mandatory, but it is a meaningful tradition in many churches, especially in Eastern Christianity and ancient liturgical practices.

Q: Why is the East associated with Christ’s return?

A: Matthew 24:27 speaks of Christ’s return like lightning coming from the east, symbolizing a powerful and visible return.

Q: Are all churches built facing east?

A: Not all, but many traditional churches, especially in the East and in Catholic or Orthodox traditions, are oriented that way to align with this symbolism.

What Makes You Unique? Celebrate It!

We often fall into the trap of comparison—measuring ourselves against others, envying their talents, or underestimating our own worth. But pause for a moment and consider this powerful image:

A razor blade is sharp but can’t cut a tree.

An axe is strong but can’t cut hair.

This simple truth holds a profound message: Every tool, every person, every soul is created for a unique purpose. The razor blade isn’t less useful because it can’t fell a tree. The axe isn’t less valuable because it can’t style your hair. Their power lies in doing exactly what they were designed to do.

You, too, have a purpose that no one else can fulfill in quite the same way. Your strengths, your sensitivities, your story—each contributes to the world in a way that’s irreplaceably yours.

In a world that idolizes comparison, let’s choose celebration. Celebrate the quiet thinker, the bold leader, the nurturing friend, the innovative creator. Celebrate the one who listens deeply, who works behind the scenes, who brings light into lives just by being present.

Never look down on anyone—unless you’re admiring their shoes. This playful line delivers a serious truth: humility and respect are the cornerstones of human connection. We all walk different paths, shaped by different struggles and strengths. So instead of judgment, let’s practice empathy. Instead of envy, let’s offer encouragement.

Rise & Inspire is more than a platform—it’s a movement. A reminder that we all rise higher when we lift others. So today, honor your gifts. Recognize others’. And remember, the world needs both the razor blade and the axe—and most importantly, it needs YOU.

Quotes to Reflect On:

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt

“You were born to be real, not to be perfect.” – Unknown

“Don’t downgrade your dream just to fit your reality. Upgrade your faith to match your destiny.” – Unknown

Call to Action:

What’s something unique about you that you’ve come to appreciate over time?

Share your thoughts in the comments—your story might inspire someone else to embrace their own path. Let’s celebrate our differences together!

What SMS English Can Teach Us About Staying Connected in a Fast World

TXT of Positivity:

SMS English, also known as textese or txt-speak, is not officially recognized as a formal language standard by academic or linguistic institutions like the Oxford English Dictionary or APA Style Guide, but it is widely acknowledged as a form of informal digital communication.

SMS English:

The Language of Connection in the Digital Age

In a world racing against time, where communication often competes with speed and convenience, SMS English emerged as a linguistic shortcut shaped by character limits and texting culture. It consists of abbreviations like “BRB” (be right back) or “LOL” (laughing out loud), making it easier to convey thoughts quickly. While not formally recognized in academic writing, SMS English has been studied for its impact on literacy and communication. Research by institutions such as Cambridge University Press suggests that it doesn’t harm language skills, and may even enhance them in some cases. It reflects how humans adapt language for connection—transforming brevity into a bridge for bonding.

In a world spinning faster by the second, where life seems to rush from one notification to the next, sometimes a simple “CU L8r” or “RUOK” can become more than just text—it becomes a lifeline.

I came across an image recently, filled with what many call “SMS English.” You’ve seen them before—short, snappy ways to say long things:

BRB (Be Right Back), G9 (Good Night), HAND (Have A Nice Day), RUOK (Are You OK?)

At first glance, they seem like shortcuts. But take a deeper look, and you’ll realize—they’re signs of connection. Tiny bridges built in seconds to remind someone: “You matter.”

More Than Just Abbreviations

Each little code carries a world of warmth:

HAND – A gentle wish that someone’s day shines bright.

RUOK – A quiet check-in that could mean everything to someone struggling.

XOXO – Hugs and kisses from miles away, packed into four characters.

BRB – A promise of return. A message of presence, even in absence.

In the noise of our busy lives, we often think meaningful connection takes time. But sometimes, all it takes is 3 seconds and 3 letters.

Why This Matters for a Community Like Ours

At Rise&Inspire, we believe in the power of words. Not just long paragraphs or deep reflections (though we love those too), but also the short sparks of encouragement we can drop into someone’s day.

Next time you message someone, consider this:

Instead of leaving them on “seen,” say PLS, say THX, say LOL.

Use G9 to wish for peace before bedtime.

Ask HRU, not just out of habit—but out of heart.

Let’s Start a “Textual Revolution” of Kindness

In a world that often forgets to pause, let’s use every tool we have—yes, even SMS English—to build bonds, share light, and remind each other that we’re not alone.

So go ahead.

Send a CU L8r to someone today.

Drop a RUOK to a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while.

End a message with XOXO just because the world needs more hugs—even virtual ones.

Key Takeaway

Even in its shortest form, language has the power to uplift, check-in, inspire, and heal. Let’s not underestimate the beauty of a few letters spoken with love.

Why Is the Death of the Faithful So Precious to God?

A Rise & Inspire Biblical Reflection by Johnbritto Kurusumuthu

Motto: Motivation and Positivity | Tagline: Strive to Elevate in Life

Wake-Up Call Message from His Excellency

“Precious is the life, and even more precious is the passing, of those who have walked with God. Their death is not an end, but a sacred transition. As Psalm 116:15 tells us, it is not loss, but love fulfilled in eternity. Let us live in such a way that our final breath is God’s welcome.”

— Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Bishop of Punalur

Today’s Verse: Psalms 116:15

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones.”

A Moment That Moved Me

When I received news of a loved one’s passing, my first response was silence—not the silence of peace, but of disbelief. But as I sat down with the Psalms, verse 116:15 emerged like a gentle whisper: “Precious in the sight of the Lord…”

God doesn’t view death the way we do. Where we see parting, He sees arrival. Where we feel absence, He welcomes presence. That’s the mystery of divine love.

Verse Breakdown & Meaning

“Precious…”

This word stands out. It doesn’t mean rare like jewels—but beloved, valued, watched over. God doesn’t overlook our final breath; He honors it.

“…in the sight of the Lord…”

He sees us. Not just in life, but in death. We’re not lost in the crowd of souls; we are seen, known, and celebrated.

“…is the death of his faithful ones.”

Those who live with faith die with dignity—whether the world notices or not. God marks the moment with heavenly honour.

Embedded Video Reflection

A: It reminds us that our lives—and deaths—matter deeply to God.

Prayer: “For Those Who Have Gone Before Us”

Heavenly Father,

In a world that mourns with heavy hearts, You whisper eternal truths.

You see the death of Your faithful not as defeat, but as a divine embrace.

We lift up those we’ve lost—mothers, fathers, friends, mentors—

May they rest in Your everlasting light.

Teach us to live each day in faith,

So that when our time comes, we too are called precious in Your sight.

Strengthen the grieving, comfort the weary, and bless the memories of the faithful.

Let us walk in their footsteps—quietly, boldly, faithfully.

Amen.

6. Rest in God’s eternal peace.

What Did Jesus See in the Human Heart?

A Biblical Reflection on John 2:24-25

A Rise & Inspire Biblical Reflection by Johnbritto Kurusumuthu

Scripture Focus:

“But Jesus on his part would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people and needed no one to testify about anyone, for he himself knew what was in everyone.”

— John 2:24-25

A Wake-Up Call from His Excellency

“My dear children in Christ,

Today, as we draw near to the sacred heart of Jesus, let us remember: Christ sees beyond what our words reveal. He peers into the depth of our intentions, our faith, and our struggles. Be not merely believers in form, but faithful in truth. Let us examine ourselves not by the world’s standards, but by the light of Christ who knows what is in everyone.”

— His Excellency, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Bishop of Punalur

The Divine Perception:

An Introduction

Have you ever wondered what Jesus sees when He looks at us—not just at our faces, but into our hearts? In John 2:24-25, we encounter a moment of profound insight: Jesus did not entrust himself to the people, because He already knew them. This verse invites us into a quiet, soul-searching reflection, not about others, but about ourselves.

To help us absorb the sacred truth of this Scripture, we will walk together through the fourfold process of lectio divina—a spiritual rhythm of reading, meditating, praying, and contemplating.

1. Lectio (Reading):

Letting the Word Enter

“But Jesus on his part would not entrust himself to them…”

As you read these verses, do not rush. Linger. Repeat them slowly, letting each word settle deep into your heart.

Jesus does not act based on surface appearances or public approval. He knows us through and through.

Reflection Question:

What do these words stir in you? Are there parts of your life that you present differently on the outside than what Jesus already knows within?

2. Meditatio (Meditation):

What Does This Mean for Me?

The people were amazed by the signs Jesus performed—but that wasn’t enough for Him to trust them.

Why?

Because signs can impress, but they don’t necessarily transform.

Jesus seeks genuine faith born not out of spectacle, but sincerity.

The people wanted a Messiah who met their expectations.

But Jesus, the True Messiah, wanted hearts that were honest, open, and willing to follow Him—without conditions.

Watch this reflective video that aligns beautifully with this Scripture:

Watch on YouTube

Let this video accompany your meditation—a gentle invitation to sit at the feet of Jesus, the One who sees us entirely and loves us fully.

3. Oratio (Prayer):

Speaking to the One Who Knows Me

Lord Jesus,

You see me as I truly am.

There is no mask I can wear, no thought I can hide, no motive I can disguise from You.

And still, You do not turn away.

Even when You cannot entrust Yourself to us, You do not abandon us.

Lord, refine me.

Remove the desire for applause and appearances.

Teach me to desire Your truth more than my own comfort.

Help me surrender what is hidden, broken, or fearful.

Let me be the kind of person in whom You can trust—not because I am perfect, but because I am honest before You.

Amen.

4. Contemplatio (Contemplation):

Resting in the Truth

Now rest.

Not to think, not to analyze, but simply to be in God’s presence.

Let the truth of Jesus’ knowledge of you wrap around your soul.

Be still.

Breathe slowly.

Let your heart whisper: “You know me, Lord… and still, You love me.”

Final Prayer:

A Heart Fully Known

God of Infinite Wisdom and Compassion,

You know all people, and yet Your gaze is not one of judgment, but of mercy.

You knew the hearts of those who shouted “Hosanna!” and later cried “Crucify Him!”

You know my heart—its rhythms of faith and its tremors of doubt.

You know when I act out of truth and when I hide behind appearances.

Strip away my pretences.

Disarm my ego.

Make me transparent before You.

In the stillness of this moment, I surrender to the One who knows me best and loves me most.

I long to be Your trustworthy disciple,

a heart You can trust,

a soul aligned with Your will.

Help me to live with sincerity,

to walk humbly,

to serve with honesty,

and to love without condition.

In Your all-knowing name, I pray. Amen.

Closing Thoughts

Let this Scripture not remain in your mind, but sink deep into your living.

Christ doesn’t demand perfection—He asks for truthfulness.

He does not seek impressive deeds but surrendered hearts.

May we become the kind of people in whom Christ can dwell confidently—

because we trust Him enough to be known completely.

Today’s Verse – 09/04/2025

“But Jesus on His part would not entrust Himself to them, because He knew all people and needed no one to testify about anyone; for He Himself knew what was in everyone.”
— John 2:24-25 (NRSV)

2:24-25 (Malayalam Bible)

“ஆனால் இயேசு அவர்களை நம்பிவிடவில்லை; ஏனெனில் அவருக்கு அனைவரைப்பற்றியும் தெரியும். மனிதரைப்பற்றி அவருக்கு யாரும் எடுத்துச் சொல்லத் தேவையில்லை; ஏனெனில் மனித உள்ளத்தில் இருப்பதை அவர் அறிந்திருந்தார்.”
— யோவான் 2:24-25 (Tamil Catholic Bible)

Reflection:
Jesus, in His divine wisdom, sees beyond appearances. He discerns every heart’s intention and needs—no testimony can add to what He already knows. This verse calls us to authenticity in His presence. We cannot impress Him with words or masks, for He understands the depths of who we are.

How to Stay Mentally Strong When Life Feels Overwhelming

Category: Motivational Blogs

You’ve faced this before—the chaos, the pressure, the sense that life is spiralling just beyond your grasp. But here’s the truth that slips away amid the noise: control doesn’t come from the situation around you—it begins in your mind.

Mental strength isn’t about avoiding hard moments—it’s about how you choose to face them. And if you’re reading this right now, that means you are choosing. You’re choosing to pause, reflect, and take control.

Mentally strong people don’t have fewer problems—they just train themselves to see and handle them differently. They lean into truths like these, and now, you can too:

This is temporary.

No matter how long the night feels, the sun does rise. Your struggle isn’t permanent—it’s a phase, not your future.

Every problem has a solution.

You may not see it immediately, but trust that clarity will come. Keep searching, keep trying. Solutions often hide behind persistence.

Clarity comes from action, not overthinking.

You might feel stuck because you’re replaying the same thoughts. Step forward, even if you’re unsure. Action has a way of clearing fog.

You’ve handled tough moments before—you’ll handle this too.

Think back. Remember how far you’ve come. You didn’t just survive—you grew. You became wiser, braver, stronger. You’ve got this.

Try This:

When your stress spikes and your chest tightens, whisper this to yourself:

“One calm step at a time.”

Because that’s how mountains are climbed. That’s how storms are weathered. That’s how you stay in control—by taking one calm step at a time.

You are stronger than your current situation. You’ve got the mindset. You’ve got the heart. And you’ve got the power to rise and inspire—not just yourself, but everyone around you.

Can Reverence for God Truly Lead to Lasting Joy and Mercy?

What Does Ecclesiasticus 2:9 Reveal About the Hope for Humanity?

A Rise & Inspire Biblical Reflection by Johnbritto Kurusumuthu

A Promise Across Tongues.
A Hope for Every Heart.

This verse reaches across languages and generations to deliver a singular message:
Those who revere the Lord are never left without hope.
They are promised not just momentary relief, but abundant blessings, unshakable joy, and divine mercy that endures.

Core Message from Ecclesiasticus 2:9:

Ecclesiasticus 2:9 invites all who revere God to place their trust not in temporary solutions, but in the eternal blessings of divine mercy and joy. It teaches that true hope is not naive optimism—it is born from reverence, sustained by faith, and rewarded with lasting peace.

In a world of uncertainties, this verse stands as a timeless assurance: those who fear the Lord can expect good things, enduring happiness, and compassionate grace.

Today’s Verse — April 07, 2025

“You who fear the Lord, hope for good things,
for lasting joy and mercy.”
— Ecclesiasticus 2:9

“കര്‍ത്താവിനെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവരേ,
ഐശ്വര്യവും നിത്യാനന്ദവും അനുഗ്രഹവും പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുവിൻ.”
— പ്രഭാഷകന്‍ 2:9

“ஆண்டவருக்கு அஞ்சுகிறவர்களே, நல்லவற்றில் நம்பிக்கை வையுங்கள்;
நிலையான மகிழ்ச்சியும் இரக்கமும் உங்களுக்காக காத்திருக்கின்றன.”
— சீராக் 2:9

Understanding Ecclesiasticus 2:9

Imagine uncovering a precious manuscript from ancient times, its words glowing with truth. Ecclesiasticus, also known as the Book of Sirach, is one such sacred text—authored by Jesus ben Sirach around the early 2nd century BCE in Jerusalem. Written originally in Hebrew and later translated into Greek by his grandson in Egypt, this book is a part of the Deuterocanonical writings and holds a special place in the Catholic tradition. It blends wisdom literature with divine reverence.

Ecclesiasticus 2:9 emerges from a chapter focused on the trials of life, faithfulness, and perseverance. The verse is a direct address to those who revere God—“You who fear the Lord…” It acknowledges the emotional and spiritual turbulence humans face and gently redirects that fear or uncertainty toward hope, joy, and mercy.

It isn’t merely advice—it’s a divine assurance: that lasting welfare is promised to those who hold God in reverence. The word “fear” here does not mean terror, but profound respect and awe. In return, the faithful are encouraged to hope—not in the transient gains of this world, but in eternal riches, unshakable peace, and compassion without end.

Relevance Today:

A Message of Welfare for Mankind

In a world gripped by anxiety, isolation, and unpredictability, this verse shines as a light for all mankind. The message is universal:

Those who ground themselves in divine reverence will find not just fleeting happiness, but enduring well-being.

In this verse, God is portrayed not as a distant force, but as a companion who walks with us through fear and uncertainty, offering hope when the path seems bleak. It reassures us that lasting joy is not a myth—it is a promise to those who trust Him.

This isn’t only a personal message; it is a message of collective upliftment. It urges communities to unite in faith, nurturing an environment of hope and kindness, especially in times of adversity.

A Wake-Up Call from His Excellency

His Excellency, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthan reminds us in today’s wake-up call: “Let your fear of God be the root of your joy. Hope is not wishful thinking; it is the fruit of reverence. And mercy—God’s greatest gift—awaits those who wait in faith.”

He calls us to meditate on God’s goodness even when life seems uncertain. Our response to God’s love must be rooted in trust, for from this grows a resilient spirit—a spirit our world deeply needs.

Watch and Reflect

To deepen your reflection, watch this powerful message:

Watch the Video

Prayer and Meditation:

Finding Joy in Divine Hope

Heavenly Father,

You are the source of all joy and mercy.

In a world filled with temporary pleasures and passing shadows,

We come before You with hearts wide open,

Trusting in Your eternal goodness.

Lord, grant us the grace to fear You rightly—

Not with dread, but with devotion,

Not with trembling, but with trust.

Let this reverence give birth to hope—

Hope for a future rich in compassion,

A life infused with joy that this world cannot steal.

Teach us, O Lord, to wait patiently,

To see beyond our current struggles,

And to rejoice in the knowledge that You never abandon Your own.

Let our communities become beacons of this hope,

Carrying forward mercy to all mankind.

When we feel forgotten, whisper Your love.

When despair knocks, open the door of joy.

When the world grows cold, wrap us in Your lasting peace.

We place our trust in You,

And await the good things You have promised.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray, Amen.

Meditation Prompt:

Take five quiet minutes. Breathe deeply. Ask yourself:

🧘Where in my life have I lost hope?

🧘What does it mean for me to hope in God today?

🧘How can I extend that hope and mercy to someone else this week?

Let Ecclesiasticus 2:9 speak to you—not only as ancient wisdom but as today’s living promise.
