Who are your favorite people to be around?
Who do I like being around? While my personal preferences about friends aren’t that exciting, I’m more interested in how we connect. Understanding how we talk, share power, respect different cultures, and follow social rules helps us build better friendships and make everyone feel important.

Have you ever thought about who you like spending time with? It’s a simple question, but it leads to big ideas about how we interact with others.
When I think about it, my personal preferences about who I hang out with aren’t that interesting. I’m more interested in digging deeper into how we relate to each other.
Communication
Talking and listening are how we share thoughts and feelings. Understanding how we communicate helps us build better relationships and understand each other more.
Power
In any group, some people have more influence than others. This can affect how we act and feel around them. Exploring power helps us see who has control and how it impacts us.
Culture
Culture is the way we do things in different groups. It’s like our shared traditions and beliefs. Learning about each other’s cultures helps us respect and understand one another better.
Social Rules
We all follow certain rules in different situations. These rules can influence how we behave and feel. Sometimes, they can hold us back from being ourselves. It’s important to question these rules and be true to who we are.
In the end, asking who we like to be around leads us to explore how we connect with others. By understanding how we communicate, share power, respect culture, and follow social rules, we can build stronger relationships and create a more accepting world where everyone feels valued.
