What are your two favorite things to wear?
In reflecting on the prompt “What are your two favorite things to wear?” I realize that my favourite “attire” goes beyond physical garments. It’s the mindset and energy I choose to wear each day. The first is confidence, which acts as an invisible, yet powerful garment. It shapes how I approach the world and how others perceive me. The second is positivity, something that fuels not only my actions but also my interactions. These two qualities, though intangible, are the most empowering things I choose to wear every day.
Beyond Fabric and Fashion: A Journey into the Symbolism of What We Wear
Introduction
When WordPress posed the question “What are your two favourite things to wear?” again, it felt like déjà vu. I had written about this very prompt nearly a year ago in my blog post, “From Tradition to Tech.” In that piece, I shared how a pair of well-crafted leather shoes and a sleek smartwatch symbolized the perfect blend of tradition and modernity in my life.
But as I sat down to revisit the question, I realized there was an opportunity to take this discussion in a completely new direction. This time, I decided to look beyond the physical objects we wear and reflect on the deeper, symbolic layers of what truly defines our “wearables.” What if our most cherished things to wear aren’t just fabric or accessories but emotions and attitudes that we carry with us every day?
Reframing What We Wear
For most of us, our wardrobe is a mirror of who we are—a mix of practicality, comfort, and personal style. But what if we thought of “wearing” in a broader sense? It struck me that our favourite things to wear aren’t always tangible. Sometimes, they’re as intangible as a positive outlook or an unyielding spirit.
This shift in perspective got me thinking about the things I metaphorically wear every day, the intangible items that have become part of my identity.
My Two Favorite “Wearables”

1. The Armor of Positivity
One of my favourite things to wear isn’t a piece of clothing; it’s an attitude. Positivity is my armour, protecting me from the negativity of the world. It’s not always easy to wear—it requires conscious effort, especially on days when life feels heavy—but it’s worth it.
I remember a particular instance when positivity transformed my day. It was a challenging morning, filled with delays and unexpected hurdles. By noon, frustration could have easily taken over, but I decided to consciously shift my mindset. I smiled at strangers, extended kindness even when it wasn’t reciprocated, and focused on the good, no matter how small. By evening, the energy around me had shifted. Positivity didn’t just change my experience; it influenced how others interacted with me.
Wearing positivity feels like stepping into a ray of sunshine—it’s warm, comforting, and contagious. It’s a choice I make every day, one that shapes how I experience the world and how the world experiences me.
2. The Mantle of Resilience

If positivity is my armour, resilience is the mantle that keeps me standing through life’s storms. Resilience is like that well-worn jacket that’s been with you through thick and thin. It might not look perfect, but it’s reliable and always there when you need it.
There was a time when resilience became my lifeline. A series of unexpected events turned my life upside down, and I found myself navigating unfamiliar territory. It wasn’t easy, but resilience helped me weather the storm. Every setback became a lesson, every challenge an opportunity to grow stronger.
Wearing resilience doesn’t mean you’re unshaken; it means you embrace the cracks and imperfections, knowing they’re part of the journey. It’s a reminder that, no matter how tough things get, you have the strength to keep going.
Blurring the Lines Between the Tangible and Intangible
Interestingly, the physical items we wear often carry the weight of these intangible qualities. Take my leather shoes, for example. When I wrote about them last year, they symbolized tradition and groundedness. But now I see them as a reflection of resilience—the soles that carry me forward, step by step, no matter the terrain.
Similarly, my smartwatch, which I once described as the perfect modern accessory, now represents positivity. It reminds me to stay active, track my progress, and celebrate small victories—an everyday nudge to keep moving forward with optimism.
This intersection of the tangible and intangible fascinates me. It’s a reminder that what we wear is rarely just about aesthetics or utility; it’s about the stories, emotions, and values they embody.
Encouraging a New Perspective
Reflecting on this prompt has been a transformative experience. It’s made me realize that our favourite things to wear—whether tangible or symbolic—are a reflection of who we are and who we aspire to be.
So, I invite you to take a moment and reflect: What are your favourite things to wear? Are they pieces of clothing, accessories, or perhaps something more abstract? Think about the emotions and attitudes you carry with you daily. What do they say about you?
Conclusion
Revisiting the same prompt a year later has been an enlightening journey. It reminded me that even the simplest questions can hold layers of meaning if we take the time to dig deeper.
For me, the answer isn’t about shoes or smartwatches anymore. It’s about the positivity I wear to brighten my days and the resilience I carry to face life’s challenges.
Now, I’d love to hear from you. What are your favourite things to wear, and what do they mean to you? Share your stories in the comments—I can’t wait to read them.
Let’s start a conversation about what truly defines our wearables, beyond fabric and fashion.

Ah, man, I was all set to post about my favorite suit and how I keep old trousers around in hopes I lose enough weight to wear them again.
My favourite things to wear are my pyjamas and dressing gown. The cats like the dressing gown because it smells familiar and it doesn’t matter if they get it dirty or tease holes in it with their paws.
