My favourite form of physical exercise is not just about breaking a sweat but rather a holistic approach to well-being.

Today, I want to share with you my favourite form of physical exercise, which is not just about breaking a sweat but rather a holistic approach to well-being.

Every morning, I begin on a journey that combines mindfulness meditation, the rejuvenating power of morning sunlight, freehand exercises, and a yoga routine that includes Ashwini mudra and Kapalbhati.I close my morning ritual with an open-air bath that leaves me feeling refreshed and invigorated.

In this blog post, I’ll take you through each step of my morning routine and explain why I find it so fulfilling.

Mindfulness Meditation (20 minutes at 6 a.m.)

My day begins with mindfulness meditation. I set aside 20 minutes each morning to meditate, and this has been a game-changer for me. Mindfulness meditation helps me start the day with a clear and calm mind. It allows me to focus on the present moment, letting go of worries and stress. Numerous studies have highlighted the positive impact of mindfulness meditation on mental health, reducing anxiety and enhancing overall well-being.

Morning Sunlight (10 minutes)

After meditation, I step outside to bask in the morning sunlight for 10 minutes. The golden rays of the rising sun not only boost my mood but also provide essential vitamin D. Exposure to sunlight early in the day helps regulate our circadian rhythms and can improve sleep quality.

Freehand Exercises

Following my sun-soaked start, I transition into freehand exercises. These exercises are a mix of stretching, calisthenics, and bodyweight movements. This part of my routine gets my blood flowing, warms up my muscles, and prepares my body for the more structured yoga session to come. Freehand exercises offer a sense of freedom in movement, allowing me to listen to my body’s needs each day.

Yoga (30 minutes, including Ashwini Mudra and Kapalbhati)

Yoga is the core of my morning routine. It’s a beautiful fusion of physical exercise and mindfulness. My 30-minute yoga session includes various asanas (postures), breathing techniques, and the practice of Ashwini mudra and kapalbhati.

Ashwini Mudra: This is a powerful yogic technique that involves contracting and releasing the anal sphincter muscles. It’s believed to have several health benefits, including improved digestion and increased energy flow.

Kapalbhati: Kapalbhati is a cleansing breath exercise that involves forceful exhalations. It helps clear the respiratory system, energizes the body, and is known for its mental and physical detoxification properties.

Open-Air Bath

I wrap up my morning routine with an open-air bath. This is more than just a shower; it’s an invigorating experience that reconnects me with nature. The sensation of cool, fresh air on my skin and the sound of water around me is incredibly refreshing. This ritual not only cleanses my body but also rejuvenates my mind and spirit.

Incorporating these elements into my daily routine has brought about a profound change in my life. I feel more in tune with my body, my stress levels are significantly lower, and I’m more energized throughout the day. Moreover, the blend of these practices contributes to my overall well-being, both physically and mentally.

Remember, the key to any routine is consistency. As with any new practice, it’s important to start slowly and gradually build up to the full routine. Listen to your body and adjust as needed.
